            Gautam Buddh Nagar district has been newly formed vide Government Notification No. 1249/1 -5/97 /82 /97- R.A. -5 dated 06-05-1997 by combining block Dadri (Parental  district Ghaziabad ) & Bisrakh  and block Dankaur , Jewar & partial area of block Sikandrabad (Parental district Bulandshahar ).Gautam Buddh Nagar is an important industrial district of Uttar Pradesh situated in National Capital Region (N.C.R.) spread over area of 1456 sq.km.At present ,the district has three tehsil (Dadri ,Jewar and Sadar ) and four blocks namely Bisrakh, Dadri ,Dankaur and Jewar;48 Nyaya Panchayat and 451 village Panchayat . In addition ,it has one Nagar Palika ,6 Nagar Panchayat and 16 Police Station.

 

According to the 1991 census ,the district has the population of 839 thousand ,out of which population of male is 496 thousand and of female is 343 thousand .The literacy percentage of the district is 30.2% which incorporates the percentage of male literacy 39.11% and female literacy 16.91%.

 

As per the parental district's survey report , there were 43,161 illiterate in Dadri in parental district of Ghaziabad and 41,451 illiterate in parental district of Bulandshahar . Since no literacy programme was campaigned in the parental district of Bulandshahar so the blocks (Jewar ,Dankaur  & Partial Sikandrabad ) have 45,451 illiterate as on date . However , in the Dadri tehsil (Block Bisrakh & Dadri ) TLC was campaigned in two phase ,which resulted with 30,544 neo-literate and thereby drop-out of 12517 illiterate in the Dadri Tehsil.

 

Combining drop-out of 12,517 illiterates of Dadri tehsil under mopping-up programme and 41,451 illiterates of Jewar and Dankaur Block (Of Parental district Bulandshahar ).thus total 53,968 illiterates to be made literate through TLC and 30,544 neo-literates will be considered for Post Literacy Programme (P.L.P.). Hence ,the project report has been prepared for CONTINUE EDUCATION under "literacy programme" for the 84,512 illiterates/neo-literates , of which 25,565 are male illiterates and 58,957 are female illiterates under the age group of 15-35.
