INDUSTRIAL LIASIONING WORKSHOP ON IT-TECHNOPRENEURSHIP

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), is a premier national R&D institution engaged in design, development and deployment of world class electronic and IT solutions for economic and human advancement. The PARAM series of Super Computers, Garuda Grid, various Hospital Management Information Systems, Decision Support System for District Planning, Management Information System for various Public Sector Organisations, National Resource Centre for Bharat Operating System Solutions (NRC BOSS) etc. are the outcome of pioneering efforts of C-DAC. These systems recognized not only within India but also internationally.

CDAC-Noida, in its endeavour to provide need based professional advisory and expert services at doorstep to IT cluster of Small & Medium Enterprise (SME’s) /Entrepreneurs and to make them technologically and managerially more effective and competitive, has set up Information Technology Consultancy Clinic (IT-CC), supported by DSIR, Govt. of India. In its efforts to scale-up the penetration of its products within the country, CDAC now proposes to involve Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME’s) as teaming partners through IT-CC route.

It was in this direction that CDAC, Noida and ITCC organized “Industrial Liasoning Workshop on I.T. -Technopreneurship” on October 5, 2007 at Noida with the basic objective of identifying and developing Entrepreneurial partners for outsourcing the products and services developed, to display inbuilt software solutions and to promote IT advisory services of IT-CC. About 75 SME’s/Individuals/Entrepreneurs participated in the workshop.

The programme began early in the day with the registrations of the participants at the reception desk. As the registration activities continued, the programme was officially announced open with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. George Varkey, Executive Director, C-DAC, Noida, Dr. A.S.Rao, Advisor, DSIR and Shri Raj Kumar, Advisor, DSIR. It was followed by a welcome speech by Dr. George Varkey. Then Shri Raj Kumar briefed the participants about ITCC initiative towards promoting SME’s/Entrepreneurs. The inaugural address was made to house by Dr. A.S.Rao.

The session rejoined for a presentation on “Hospital Management Information System” by Mr. Naveen K. Jain about its various features and applications, talking about its business scope and its ability to be tapped commercially. It was continued by an interactive session with the participants addressing their queries and doubts.
A similar session was carried out for “Decision Support System” by Mr. Satyajit Rath followed by an interaction round after which an address was delivered to the gathering by Prof. Y. S. Rajan, Principal Advisor, CII.
Following this was a detailed presentation on BoSS Linux made by Mr. Rajagopalan, E.D., CDAC, Chennai. along with an interaction session in the end of it wherein the various business applications of the project were discussed. The session broke for lunch after this and gathered again for a session on “Management Information System” by Mr. Ashu Krishna and then “Digital Library” by Mr. V.N.Shukla. |

The workshop encompassed the information about various projects in a detailed presentation on each of them lasting for an hour. Each of those talked about the business model and future roadmap for this teaming partnership, which is expected to grow into a pioneering model for public-private partnership.
The workshop was brought to an end with a panel discussion headed by Dr. George Varkey, E.D., CDAC, Noida and valediction at the end of the session with each of the participants talking exuberantly about the workshop with much enthusiasm being shown towards effective future partnership opportunities with ITCC.
